Medical Marijuana Public Comments Posted
We received more than 1,500 comments on our initial proposed rules to regulate medical marijuana. All the comments (over 1,000 pages) are posted on our http://www.azdhs.gov/prop203/ website for viewing. Our team is very busy reviewing the comments and suggestions looking for good ideas that will help build a more effective program.
By the way, as we review the comments that we’ve received, we’re not really interested in the sheer number of comments by category. Rather, we’re examining the quality and content of the suggestions with an eye to finding comments that will help to build a more effective, efficient, and practical medical marijuana program (as opposed to a recreational marijuana program). We’re also looking at whether the comments fit within the statutory authority as outlined in the Initiative. Our next draft rule package is due January 31, which will kick off our next comment period.

Let’s say we are granted a certificate for a dispensary….
I know the cultivation facility must be in a different location than the dispensary, but can the infusion and cultivation facilities be under the same roof?
It would be safer for our registered agents if that they didn’t have to transport as much herbal medicine to different locations.

i reall feel and believe that the 25 mile radius can create alot of havoc down the road because of the simple fact some counties in the north are vast and when you limit it to that small range of 25 miles your going to have marijauna growing all over the place and i forsee it to create alot of bad activity and more so uncontrolled, my suggestion is to widen the radius to at least 60 miles, and it will reassure tighter policy and ensure better sales for dispensaries.
Bottom line make it affordable for sick people. Patients can’t afford MJ above $100 an ounce….so
(1) make dispensaries TRUE non-profits (2) make costs low for dispensaries, lower the fee, no doctor requirement for dispensaries, no expensive requirements for dispensaries (3) make patient costs low, like $50 a year to get the card, only 1 visit a year through any doctor as long as you truly medically qualify.

I would like to know if I could become a supplier to a dispensary without owning or managing one. How much medical marijuana would I be allowed to grow legally in order to be a supplier? What permit or license do I need in order to do this? What is the application process to be a grower?
I think dispensaries should be able to have the option of having their grow facility at the same location. There would not be a need for transporting the medicine from one location to another (ridiculous). Also without the expense of the dispensary having to have two separate buildings the savings could be passed on to the patients
For good or bad, i am glad that all comments as well as the process in general is being done in complete transparency to the public. Very bipolar subject can only be popular if the conversation takes place in a public forum. congrats
I believe in whatever will make costs low for the patient. I also hope non profit dispensaries get a preference over for profit dispensaries in getting a license.
Give priorities for licenses to non profit medical marijuana dispensaries.
Read the law. ALL dispensaries MUST be non-profit. Comments like yours make all of us look like morons.
Please do everything you can to make medical marijuana affordable for those in pain. You can do this by not requiring multiple doctor visits, make app fees low for patients and dispensaries. As some others have said maybe dispensary operators should be required to be non profit.
I concur with most here. Make Medical MJ easy to obtain for those who are TRULY qualified. These are poor people who are suffering. Make costs low. Give special consideration to non profit dispensaries and growers. Keep overall costs down.
Let’s follow the intent of the law and make medical marjuana affordable and easily available for patients in pain.

1500 comments? that is alot of comments. But i think must people agree that we hope it is cost effective and you guys come up with some ideas to implement that.
There will be certain people that abuse the medcial marjuana so something will need to be in place for that too.
Question. Now I have read the draft carefully and failed to find my answer so if anyone knows where i can find answer please come forward . If I live outside of the 25 mile limit and can grow my own weed can I still visit the dispensaries??
Even if this law only won by 1 vote…the no votes are disregarded. Don’t interpret why some one voted no. A person may have voted NO because the law wasn’t broad enough to include all recreational smokers. A person may have voted NO because they vote NO on all propositions…a person may have voted no because so many law enforcement officials wanted to protect their jobs by trying to scare people to vote no…..so don’t assume why people voted no…it is not our concern about the NO votes since they are irrelevant…what is relevant is that the law passed…we don’t interpret the law and add our own rules just because we don’t like the law or we think the no voters would want it that way. Thank you.
Where can I get an application? I found out that my doctor will be able to “recommend” medical marijuana for me because of the years I have endured chronic back pain from an industrial accident I had back in Aug. 2008
You can’t get an application for anything until the rules are finalized. They won’t be finalized until April.
Consideration needs to adopted regarding chemicals used in the cultivation of the plants. Our water and land needs to be protected and hefty fines should be included in the initial laws for all violations.

More dispensaries are needed in lake havasu, due to the population. The city council has decided to put it in the middle of town. They also want to tax it, I thought the object was to keep the cost down, grow organic, we shold be able to grow it in our closits so we know what we have and with over 300 types of cannibas. Low cost compassionate care, for those in pain and those who are suffering and can’t afford to go to the doctors and get opiated pain killers that are flooding the streets bad for our kidneys and livers, and life in general. We don’t need to create a bigger black market than we have.
Putting children on medication such as Adderall won’t do something to the reason behind attention problems it.just addresses the symptoms. Prescriptions won’t anything at all about what is really defective with them. I can not feel that drugging my child can be the most effective I am able to do for him, If I follow my physicians advice to place my kid upon drug like Methylin, how long might it be before I know if that was advisable or not?
