Our Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) program works with various partners to improve patient safety across Arizona. On January 20th, the HAI program collaborated with the local Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology Grand Canyon Chapter (APIC) to host their annual State of the State meeting. This event took place at Health Services Advisory Group and was attended by more than 70 infection preventionists and other state partners.

This annual event is dedicated to program updates and education from many areas of the ADHS Bureau of Epidemiology and Disease Control Services. The event was packed full of information about a variety of infectious disease topics, ranging from cocci (Valley Fever) to Zika, and their impact in Arizona during 2016. If you are interested and want to stay up to date on infectious diseases and trends in Arizona, the presentations are available at the Healthcare-Associated Infection and Antibiotic Resistance training webpage.
