The American Heart Association has launched Healthy For Good, a campaign built on four core ideas: Eat smart. Add color. Move more. Be well. It is free to join and will help you stay on track with shareable tips, videos and hacks.

Here are a few on tips from the campaign how to “eat smart” and have a healthy diet without dieting:

  • Go for a simple, healthy eating pattern to nourish your body and bring out your best you.
  • Concentrate on smaller portions, rather than forcing yourself to eliminate foods you love.
  • Add fiber-rich foods that will keep you feeling full, such as whole grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits.
  • Don’t buy empty-calorie foods and sugary drinks – if they aren’t in your pantry, you’re less likely to indulge.

Check out resources for consumers that can easily be used by health professionals to help patients and clients take control of their health through simple steps. Join the movement to be Healthy For Good and you’ll have help including encouragement, resources, and a little humor along the way.
