Two ADES offices in Maricopa County were awarded Bronze Medals for the prestigious  2010 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Hunger Champion Award.  The East Southern Office in Phoenix, and the Gilbert Office on W. Guadalupe both received the Bronze Award, and were chosen from DES offices all over the U.S. The USDA only gave out 23 awards nationally- so this is a very selective award.

The award goes out to program offices that demonstrate exemplary service in providing education about healthy eating to their clients as well as conducting outreach activities to assist eligible clients to obtain nutrition benefits.  The Offices are also “adopted” partners of the Arizona Nutrition Network, which means they provide materials and innovative nutrition education to the clients.  The Maricopa County Department of Public Health has adopted the East Southern Office and the University of Arizona Bone Builders has adopted the Gilbert office.
