This week is Men’s Health Week, which is typically celebrated the week before Father’s Day. The health observance week is important to bring attention to the health issues men face, but we know staying healthy is a lifelong process. Year round we focus on men’s health issues through our Man Up Arizona blog. The blog was started several years ago to promote prostate cancer awareness. Since the launch of the program, we’ve expanded to include more health topics that men need to pay attention to. This week we are featuring five simple things all men can do to stay healthy: Get an Annual Physical, Be More Physically Active, Eat Better, Get Mental Health Help if You’re Feeling Depressed, and Quit Smoking.
On our Public Health Blog we have a new video featuring Wayne Tormala, our Chief of the Bureau of Tobacco and Chronic Disease. In the video Wayne talks about something that men do not often think about: being a healthy father. For state employees, Benefit Options Wellness, through the Arizona Department of Administration, is featuring Men’s Health Week on their Wellness website with information about services for men through our health benefits.
